Access Code Case Studies - M.L. Phillips Elementary School
M.L. Phillips Elementary School in Ft. Worth, Texas was looking to provide additional support to a group of very low performing fourth grade students, none of whom had passed the state TAKS assessment as third graders. The school piloted Access Code with eight students during the 2010-2011 school year. The students used the program for a period of approximately four months and the school reported that reading fluency for these students skyrocketed, with the average student showing an increase of 35 words-per-minute.
In addition, the students grew tremendously in terms of reading levels (Fountas and Pinnell) and their enjoyment of reading and feeling of independence also improved.
